Macedon Ranges Wedding Musician

Lisa and Glenn hired Matt to perform solo at their intimate wedding (only 30 guests) at Lawson Lodge in Macedon. Lawson Lodge is a DIY venue in the Macedon Ranges. It’s the perfect blank canvas for couples who want to personalise their small wedding and make it truly unique. Although they mainly host corporate conferences we’ve done a few weddings there now. It’s a peaceful setting, surrounded by rolling hills, a golf course, and kangaroos. And there’s plenty of accommodation on site.

Lisa and Glenn are both introverts so didn’t want a lot of fuss made over them. They wanted a relaxed gathering. Loose run sheet, few formalities, and little fanfare. They chose Loving is Easy by Rex Orange County for their first dance (love this song). We didn’t even announce it – just rolled the song and off they went with a lovely unchoreographed wedding dance that came across completely spontaneous.

After speeches we launched into a surprisingly energetic dance floor. Lisa loves 90s RnB, while Glenn’s favourite song (for some reason) is The Nutbush. They both love 90s and early 2000s pop, along with classic wedding anthems like Mr Brightside and The Horses.

I was thrilled to receive this review in the mail a couple of weeks later. Thoughtful, appreciative couples like Lisa and Glenn make my job such a pleasure, and their wedding was one of my favourites.

Lancefield Acoustic Duo

Charlotte & Damian were married at Glen Erin in Lancefield. This is one of our favourite venues in the Macedon Ranges. It was a warm Autumn day so we were outside, but if weather is inclement they also have a pretty chapel. Charlotte and Damian had the dream team of wedding suppliers there, with Adam from Journey By Light Photography (who took all the photos below) and Meriki Comito as the celebrant. It was Charlotte and Damian’s kids Will and Lexi and their beautiful old retriever Rupert who stole the show though.

The first thing I noticed about Charlotte and Damian was their GREAT taste in music. They asked our acoustic duo to play Somebody To Love by Queen for their first dance, First Date by Good Charlotte was the procession song. Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles was the recessional song, and they chose Times Like These by Foo Fighters for their signing. Here’s a snippet:
 

 
After that it was cocktails in the bar, followed by the wedding reception. Lots of Beatles and Queen for the dance floor (many guests were from the UK). Glen Erin has the perfect setup for anything from a wedding DJ to a band, with a purpose-built stage and large dance floor.

Mount Macedon Wedding Band

Lydia and Brett were married at Mount Macedon Winery. This venue is hidden away at the foot of Mount Macedon, just five minutes from Woodend. One of the main attractions is resident hound Gus (who looks a bit sad in this photo – he brightened up when the food came out though).

Lydia and Brett opted for our soloist Kristen at their ceremony and cocktails, and the four piece wedding band for the reception. They chose Heaven by Bryan Adams for their first dance, which Kristen and Matt played live as a duo, before the band took over to kick off the dance floor.
 

Macedon Ranges Wedding DJ

Do we ever love seeing familiar faces at weddings! The MC at Ellen and Nathaniel’s wedding was Ellen’s brother Brendan, who we first met at his wedding to the lovely Alix in Trentham way back in 2018. I think this is wedding number 4 they’ve recommended us for now. Seriously, I should pay some people a commission.

 
Anyway, back to Ellen and Nathaniel. This wedding was mad fun. Great song choices, great people, perfect weather, perfect venue (The Acres of Tooborac), relaxed vibe, hilarious speeches (looking at you father of the bride), absolutely pumping dance floor – everything you could want in other words.

Ellen and Nathanial opted for the Kristen & Matt Duo at their ceremony and cocktails, while DJ Matt handled the reception. The music choices definitely leaned towards the alternative. Many requests from left-of-field, which is always challenging and fun. But the dance floor was packed solid for over three hours straight. As a DJ you can’t ask for more than that from a wedding crowd.
