Gippsland Wedding Music

Gippsland features pristine beaches, dense forests, rolling farmland, and rugged mountains. Its mix of coastal escapes, wilderness adventures, and rural tranquility makes it a popular wedding destination. Read about the best musicians, bands, and DJs for weddings at Phillip Island, Drouin, Sale, Warragul, and Bairnsdale.

Renae and Matt were married at Tom’s Cap Vinaeyard (since rebranded as Carrajung Estate) in Willung South, Gippsland. It’s a pretty, secluded spot, surrounded by rolling hills, a vineyard, and forest. The wedding ceremony was presided over by my good friend and celebrant fantastique Julia. They opted for recorded music at the ceremony, which is an option we offer.

I then switched to performing solo over cocktails. As a wedding musician I think cocktails might be my favourite part of a wedding. It’s when the guests are at their most relaxed, and they’re enjoying a drink or two but are not drunk yet. There’s no formality (bride and groom are typically off getting their photos done), and I can create a fun and upbeat vibe with some classic pub-style songs. The guests at this wedding were fun and engaging, and I received lots of song requests.

After a fair bit of deliberation Renae and Matt chose our three piece band for their reception. Renae and Matt chose Wonderwall by Oasis for their last dance song. A last dance, as opposed to a farewell circle, guard of honour, or sparkler exit, is a perfect way to finish a wedding. People should do it more! Many brides and grooms opt for no finale. This is fairly common, especially with more introverted couples, but we’re not big fans of ending a night with a whimper. And most of the time (with a little bit of encouragement from me) we’ll get a spontaneous last dance anyway. It’s always a hit.
Highlight of the wedding? When the MC herded everyone outside for a fireworks display. Epic!
Phillip Island Acoustic Duo
For a while there it seemed like every second wedding our acoustic duo played was on Phillip Island. There are some great venues on the island. Island Bay Ranch is one of them: a DIY style venue tucked away behind farmland in Rhyll and overlooking Westernport Bay.

Angela and Duncan chose our acoustic duo to perform at their cocktails and first half of the reception, followed by DJ. While setting up we got to observe the nearby ceremony – including the couple arriving in a helicopter! Angela and Duncan were the sweetest, most relaxed couple, and their personalities set the tone of the wedding. They wanted a Sunday Session style vibe while everyone chilled out on the lawn with drinks, canapes, and lawn games. Easy.

As the sun went down they ventured inside and we followed to continue performing over dinner. They chose a funny mashup for their first dance, during which Sheehan Studios snapped the above pic. But seriously, how cute do they look?
Gippsland Wedding Band
I met this beautiful family way back in 2016, when I played at Mikaela’s 21st at her parents’ place in Garfield. Then in 2021 our soloist Kristen performed at her sister Shiona’s wedding at Yering Station. So we were rapt when Mikaela and Adam invited our four piece band to come to Gippsland to play at their wedding reception. Here they are showing us how an entrance is done:
Mikaela’s family had been coming up to Noojee for years for camping, so what better place to get married? Toorongo River Chalets really is a pretty spot, surrounded by forest and with the river winding through the middle of the property. They had a perfect warm day in early Autumn, with only a spot of rain during cocktails. Pop’n’Clink, a Gippsland mobile caravan bar, were there serving drinks; Bride Mikale but Mikaela works for them, but got the night off of course!

The band were set up inside. We’d had a wedding in Mornington the night before, so were well-and-truly warmed up. Mikaela and Shiona had a beautiful spontaneous dance with their dad, who had literally died in hospital the previous year (he was resusciated). Needless to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. Later the guests hit the dance floor, with professional photographer and live music aficionado Verity from Miss Pickle Photography taking the lead.
Phillip Island Wedding DJ
As far as unique wedding venues are concerned, Wild Food Farm in Rhyll, Phillip Island would be right up there. Once a trout farm, it features an ornamental lake inside the venue itself, and a winding causeway over a rushing stream with a waterfall. Ruby and Cory hired our acoustic duo and DJ for their Phillip Island wedding, entering their reception to I Love You Always Forever by Donna Lewis:
The couple went straight into their first dance: A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, performed live by the duo. This was followed by a dance with their parents, to Stand By Me by Ben E. King. There’s something special about having your first dance and other dances performed live, and we always encourage our couples to do this.

After speeches I switched to DJ, opening the dance floor with Low by Flo Rida. It was a fun one, with lots of requests to keep me on my toes. Ruby and Cory finished their wedding with a sparkler exit outside.
