Western Suburbs Wedding Music

Weddings > Melbourne > Western Suburbs
Once a working-class industrial hub, Melbourne’s Western suburbs now incorporate everything from trendy inner suburbs like Footscray and Spotsville to the booming multicultural centres of Werribee and Melton. Wedding venues include wineries, pubs, bars, and historical buildings. Read about some of the western suburbs weddings for which we’ve provided musicians, bands, and DJs.
Newport Wedding Musician
Anna and Kieran first met us at the wedding of Jackie and Ben in Highett. They liked what they heard, so hired me as the musician and DJ for their wedding reception in Newport. The Junction Hotel is a busy pub in the heart of bustling Newport. They have a spacious function area out the back, a converted factory called The Grindlay Room – perfect for wedding receptions.

The couple provided me with a cool light-up sign for taking song requests. I thought it was such a good idea that I’ve used one ever since. They asked me to enforce a strict No Ed Sheeran rule (no complaints here). Back to the Future is Kieran’s favourite movie, so the couple entered the reception to The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News. Something unique about this wedding was that the couple hired a magician. Seen that at corporate events before, but never at a wedding. I liked it!

After the cake cutting I switched to DJ and opened the dance floor with September by Earth, Wind, & Fire. It was a packed and high-energy dance floor right to the end of the reception. Lots of fun.
Melton Acoustic Trio
We met Zosia and Tony at one of our live showcases in Camberwell. It was a huge night and I had trouble getting around to speak with all the brides and grooms who’d turned up, but I did get to sit down with this couple for fifteen minutes, and liked them both straight away.

They hired our acoustic trio and DJ for their wedding. Their venue, Warrawong Estate, is located in Eynesbury, on the outskirts of Melton. It’s a peaceful spot overlooking Werribee Gorge, and only about 40 minutes from the city. It was originally a sheep farm, and the main reception space is what was once the wool shed. It’s surrounded by colonial-era buildings. Lots of places for guests to explore and for photo opportunities. It’s a DIY-style venue, which suited Zosia and Tony, who are the kinds of people who don’t mind getting their hands dirty. The families pitched in to help out on the day, and food trucks were brought in for the catering.
Zosia and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle to Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley. Zosia and Tony chose Lost In Your Eyes by Debbie Gibson for their first dance. They’re an adorable couple and it made for a cute moment.

Then two-thirds of the trio bumped out and I transformed into DJ. Zosia and Tony had chosen a great mix of music old and new for their guests, but I was also snowed under with requests. The couple’s Do Not Plays were Macarena, Summer of ’69, and Run to Paradise. Always handy to know ahead of time!
Werribee Wedding DJ
I love winter weddings! Why aren’t they more popular? This is a question I’ve been asking myself for years. It may be that the bride wants to wear THAT dress. It may be that the couple are worried about the welfare of older guests. But there are ways. Use the money saved by holding your wedding in winter (everyhting is cheaper off-season) to hire a marquee and space heaters. Theme your wedding in such a way that everyone has an excuse to dress warmly. Winter weddings rock. More please!
I won’t lie, Jasmine and Daniel’s outdoor wedding at Werribee Mansion in June was COLD. But it was also a lot of fun. They hired our acoustic duo and DJ for their Werribee wedding, and we were set up on a deck overlooking the field where the tables were set up. And when it came time to dance the guests didn’t hesitate!
