Eastern Suburbs Wedding Music

Weddings > Melbourne > Eastern Suburbs
The Eastern suburbs of Melbourne encompass everything from bustling urban precincts to semi-rural landscapes. They’re home to some of Melbourne’s most iconic wedding venues. We’ve provided musicians, bands, and DJs for hundreds of weddings in Warrandyte, Kilsyth, Ringwood, Camberwell, Eltham, and Lilydale. Read about some of them below.
Warrandyte Wedding Singer
Alyssa and Thinh were an extremely last-minute booking, getting in touch with us less than two weeks out from their wedding. Which is fine! We love last-minute weddings. They were married in the wisteria courtyard at Potters Receptions in Warrandyte. Our wedding singer Kristen performed Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley as Alyssa walked down the aisle, and Pachelbel’s Canon in D on piano during the signing:
The couple walked back up the aisle to Stand By Me by Ben E. King. Then Kristen relocated inside to the bar area and continued perfoming solo during the cocktail hour.

When the guests moved next door to the main reception room I took over as DJ. I was given a playlist of Cambodian and Vietnamese music to DJ, along with the usual Western wedding songs. It was a lot of fun to mix. Crystal Palace Catering provided an amazing 6 course Chinese feast at the reception. Quite possibly the best supplier meal we’ve ever received!
Eltham Acoustic Duo
Montsalvat is a legendary artist colony in Eltham in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It’s a maze of weird and wonderful spaces, with gothic architecture, sculpture, and paintings everywhere you look. The options for spaces for every part of a wedding are endless. As are the opportunities for wedding photography.

Bronwyn and Thomas chose to get married in the Upper Gallery, where there is a beautiful grand piano on hand (played on this occasion by our singer/pianist). The ceremony was conducted by one of our favourite celebrants, Erin McMahon from Sweet Wonderful You. After that it was across to the Long Gallery, where our acoustic duo performed over cocktails.

The reception was held in the Great Hall at Montsalvat. This is a medieval-looking space, with a floor of flagstones, stained-glass windows, and iron chandeliers. It’s like something out of Game of Thrones. And like a medieval band our acoustic duo was set up on a balcony high above the reception. Although a bit cramped, it was a novel and interesting space to play in. It also made for some great photo opportunities, like this one I took during the couple’s first dance (to Perfect by Ed Sheeran):

After this I switched to DJ and opened the dance floor. Interesting experience being so high up above everyone, especially when it came to interacting with the guests. Some of the drunker guests did a great job navigating the steep and narrow staircase up to the balcony to request songs.
Wattle Park Wedding Band
Wattle Park Chalet, in the heart of Wattle Park in Surrey Hills, is a hidden gem of a wedding venue. We’d never even heard of it before Michelle and Adam hired us to play at their wedding there. Built in 1928, it has a distinctive character and charm. But what makes it a stand-out is its friendly and accommodating staff.

Michelle and Adam lucked in with a perfect Autumn day for their wedding. They asked our acoustic duo to perform at their ceremony and cocktails in the small, pretty garden just behind the chalet. Michelle walked down the aisle to an instrumental performance of Fall At Your Feet by Crowded House. We played Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis and Love Someone by Lukas Graham during the signing, then Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell for the recessional.

Originally they were only going to have a DJ at their reception, but changed their mind only a week out and upgraded to our four piece wedding band. Amazingly we were all available.

Michelle and Adam asked the band to play Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli for their first dance. Then we opened the dance floor with their request for Gimme Gimme Gimme by ABBA. The groom’s favourite song was The Nutbush, which got pretty wild. The band wound up the night with I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston (special request from the venue management). Michelle and Adam asked us to play Ho Hey by The Lumineers for the last song of the night.
Kilsyth Wedding DJ
Iron Bark Station in Kilsyth is a distinctive, family-run wedding venue in the eastern suburbs. It’s a mock colonial town – think Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. The work that has gone into it is quite incredible. And if you love horses you’ll be right at home here with their beautiful Clydesdales. Dafne and Ivan were married next to the stables and the horses were very curious about what was going on.

It was a sweltering hot summer’s afternoon, so the order of the day was taking it slow, stressing less, and staying hydrated. But this couple and all their guests were so lovely and laidback that there was never anything to get stressed about. They didn’t even bother with an MC, doing it themselves instead!

The couple opted for an acoustic duo at their ceremony and cocktails, and wedding DJ at the reception. Dafne is from Argentina and Ivan from South Africa, so I was expecting some interesting music requests and some great dancing. Well I got both. Lots of latin music, but surprisingly some Aussie classics too. We had a spontaneous Mother/Daughter dance to Dance Monkey by Tones & I, and a father/daughter dance to Gasolina by Daddy Yankee. Final song of the night was Coastlines by Hollow Coves.
