Bayside Wedding Music

The bayside suburbs of Melbourne are a hugely popular wedding location. With sandy beaches, convenient amenities, and those beautiful Port Phillip Bay sunsets, they’re home to some of Victoria’s best wedding venues. Read about the best musicians, bands, and DJs for weddings in Sandringham, Brighton, Frankston, Chelsea, Beaumaris, Mentone, and Mordialloc.
Brighton Wedding Singer
Megan and Hamish chose Half Moon on Church St in Brighton for their wedding reception. This is a busy venue with a well-equipped reception space upstairs, includng a quality in-house PA system suitable for DJs. Megan and Hamish wanted a relaxed vibe with minimal formality: no run sheet, no MC, no first dance, and just a couple of speeches. They hired me to play solo then switch to DJing. I spent a few hours playing classic songs to some very appreciate guests while the drinks flowed. After speeches we kicked off a rowdy dance floor. This descended into karaoke, with Hamish the groom pulling out his harmonica:
Bayside Acoustic Duo
Jackie and Ben held their wedding reception at 40RD (which has since been rebranded as Luna Event Space) in Highett. Luna is a hidden gem: a converted factory on a side street in a residential area. Industrial aesthetic naturally, and a good blank canvas for any kind of event. Jackie and Ben put their own stamp on it with some clever decor.
They hired our acoustic duo to perform over their cocktail-style dinner. We love cocktail weddings for a couple of reasons. First, not having tables leaves plenty of space in smaller rooms for the dance floor (and us). Secondly, it makes for a more flexible run sheet, as food can come out at any time – including after the dance floor opens. The main thing to remember for a cocktail-style wedding, especially at venues with concrete floors, is to provide adequate confortable seating for anyone who wants to sit – especially older guests. On this occasion Luna had plenty of armchairs and couches set up around the room.
The bridal party entered the reception to Jumpin Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones, while Jackie and Ben chose Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis for their first dance. There was a great mix of songs from different genres and eras requested for the dance floor, with our request cards doing most of the heavy lifting. Jackie and Ben wanted Ending Credits by Opeth for their exit song – clearly lots of recovered Emos amongst the guests because it went down a treat.
Parkdale Acoustic Trio
Deb and Simon were married at Parkdale Yacht Club by the hilarious Paul Bonadio. Lots of laughs at the ceremony: Deb and Simon are a couple of characters and don’t take themselves too seriously. The venue had been newly renovated, and the view of Port Phillip Bay out the big windows is to die for. It’s the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony.
Our acoustic trio kicked off over cocktails, with Pete and myself on guitar and vocals, and Aaron on saxophone and flute. This is just one of the endless variations of the acoustic trio we offer. I’d played with Pete and Aaron separately many times before, but this was our first time performing as a trio. But with experienced musos like these guys it’s always a good time. After the wedding Deb very kindly sent through the pro photos of us, taken by the friendly and talented guys from Projekt Creative Co:
After dinner the boys bumped out and I switched over to DJ. Deb and Simon chose Ain’t Met Us Yet by Matt Cooper for their first dance, which kicked off a high energy dance floor that endured until their last song (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life from the film Dirty Dancing.
Sandringham Wedding Band
Melanie and Neil held their wedding at Sandringham Yacht Club. They were married just outside the venue on a balcony overlooking the sea. It was a bit windy but otherwise a perfect day. We always love seeing the pets involved, especially when they’re as well-behaved as this beautiful doggo:
Sandringham Yacht Club has been an iconic Melbourne wedding venue for decades, and it’s not hard to see why. The team there are total pros and everything always goes smoothly. Mel and Neil booked the main upstairs room for their reception. The Port Phillip Room a big space with views over Sandringham Breakwater and the bay.
Mel and Neil booked our four piece band for their wedding. It’s the perfect venue for a live wedding band, with a large dance floor separating the stage from the seating, allowing the band to flex its muscles without offending anyone. Our drummer Dan approved.
The couple chose Switch by Will Smith for the bridal party entrance, and went with a Celine Dion medley by Caleb and Kelsey for their first dance. This was followed by both a father/daughter and mother/son dance, to Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls. Last song of the night was The Horses by Daryl Braithwaite.
