Hi, I’m Matt.

I established Matt Black Entertainment in 2012. I’d spent 14 years playing in Melbourne pub bands, wedding and corporate bands and duos, and as a session guitarist and fill-in. It was time for something new.
 
It began as a one-man show. Just me, my acoustic guitar, and loop pedal. My only goal at the time was to make a living by providing quality live acoustic music at a competitive price. It took a while, but eventually in 2018 I was able to quit my day job. Never looked back.
 
Over time Matt Black became a bit of a monster. We now offer everything from soloists, acoustic duos, and wedding DJs, right up to an eight piece band.

Our Vision

My philosophy remains centred around providing great live music and great value for money. That hasn’t changed one iota.
 
These days I consider Matt Black Entertainment a boutique entertainment supplier. That’s not just marketing jargon. We’re a small team and I demand consistently high standards from my performers. We offer an attentive, personal service both in the lead-up to your event and on the day. Nevertheless we’ve been able to keep our prices competitive enough to service everything from high-end weddings to backyard birthday parties.
 
Our team are the friendly faces at your event, the down-to-earth personalities, the jokers, the social butterflies. But we’re also the ones putting out spot fires behind the scenes and going the extra mile to help make your event a success.
 
In an industry full of fakers, cowboys, mercenaries, and karaoke tracks, what sets us apart is our ability to create genuine rather than contrived experiences, heartfelt delivery rather than rote performances. I’m as passionate as ever about keeping it real and creating genuine connections with people from all walks of life through music. Who needs to fake it in a job as fun as ours anyway?
